(AP) ? A California man faces federal drug charges for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 4 pounds of methamphetamine to Japan in what looked like dozens of Snickers bars.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Monday that 34-year-old Rogelio Mauricio Harris of Long Beach was arrested last week at Los Angeles International Airport as he prepared to board a flight to Japan.

Harris was charged in Los Angeles with drug possession and faces at least 10 years in prison if convicted.

Federal agents conducting routine baggage inspections found 45 full-sized Snickers bars inside Harris' luggage. Each bar was coated in a chocolate-like substance to make it look like a candy bar, but tests revealed the so-called candy contained methamphetamine.

Authorities estimate the 4 pounds of meth is worth about $250,000.

At the venue, RPS ground in Colombo, this was 30th meeting and India found 12th win while losing 15 with 3 no results.

Match summary

Even though cricket has changed in recent times with the emergence of T20 cricket, chasing almost run a ball target for fifty overs is still a tough assignment. Today, set against 287 after terrible bowling performance, Indians lost Virender Sehwag early but Gautam Gambhir, following on his good innings in last match, put together the foundation with in-form Virat Kohli. MS Dhoni, noticing poor form of young Rohit Sharma, promoted himself but his slowish innings pushed the asking rate around 8 an over and then Lasith Malinga ate up both Gambhir and Dhoni in first over of the batting powerplay to turn the match around. Thankfully, Suresh Raina and Irfan Pathan steered visitors home through some inspired batting display.

Earlier, Sri Lankans got lucky with the toss and decided to put runs on board but not untill first three batsmen had returned to pavilion that their innings got going. Experienced pros Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene added 121 runs. both missed their century but late counter attack from Angelo Mathews and Jeevan Mendis pushed home team to a solid total.

This was first defeat for Sri Lanka at the venue having scored more than 250 runs. Also, this was biggest chase by any team on Sri Lankan soil.

David N. Alderman: Poopy Faced Christian Prudes

We?ll talk about the title of this post in a second. First, I want to state that this is the first in many blog posts where I try to address some in-depth and sometimes complex issues/themes in the world, Christianity, and the arts and entertainment. Starting next week I?ll be diving into an entire series dedicated to examining the characters and themes in my edgy Christian speculative fiction series, Black Earth. But first I figured I?d lay down the groundwork by debunking an attitude that I?ve come across one too many times now ? Christian?s vehemently judging non-Christians for participating in edgy entertainment ? books, movies, music, video games, etc. What?s even more annoying is when Christians vehemently judge other Christians for the same thing.

I mean, c?mon, most of us have to admit that a good percentage ? although not all ? of the Christian population has the well-earned reputation of taking itself too seriously. Harry Potter is evil. Christian rap isn?t real music. Violent movies cause us to kill each other. These are attitudes I see in the Christian community ALL the time. Granted not all Christians feel this way, but some of those that do strive to wipe out any form of entertainment that doesn?t promote Christian themes.

Now before the comments start about how it seems I?m attacking those who hold certain beliefs that they are entitled to have, I want to make one thing clear: I am aware that even though some people believe Harry Potter is evil, it doesn?t make them wrong in their opinion. It could be considered evil for them, personally. The issue I have is when Christians point the finger and make painfully obvious their disgust with those who DO enjoy Harry Potter.

It goes without saying (but I?ll say it anyway) that there are definitely boundaries we need to put around ourselves and our children in regards to content in the arts. Some of us are genuinely more disturbed by certain themes than others, and in this regard, we should probably keep ourselves from engaging in content that contains these themes. A rape victim may not feel comfortable watching a movie that portrays a girl being raped. Some are more squeamish to acts of violence in film and television. Some have an extreme distaste for cursing in music. We need to have mutual respect for those who feel this way.

But what I want to talk about is the stigma surrounding Christians completely hating on forms of entertainment that contain anything gritty, edgy, or controversial. It seems some shy away from anything that contains merely the theme of evil because they are afraid it will rub off on them and turn them evil. I just think that some Christians too often neglect to look at a form of entertainment for what it has the potential to be ? a platform for powerful stories, though-provoking themes, and issues relative to our world today.

I think many neglect to use discernment when it comes to this and instead, lazily write EVERYTHING off as evil, shunning any type of entertainment that contains cursing, sex, violence, or morally blurred lines. Personally, I find that these forms of entertainment simply reflect the world around us. My neighbor curses, but I can?t shut him off. A driver on the interstate cuts me off, I honk at him, and he follows me into my neighborhood hoping to start a violent feud. While at work, my coworker hits on me and attempts to seduce me away from my wife. This is real life.

No, I?m not saying that we should purposefully seek out a book or movie that is filled with cursing or sex simply for the sake of experiencing cursing or sex. Once again, this is where discernment comes in. What I?m saying is that sometimes entertainment venues contain these things to tell truth in a story, to make them believable, and draw us in. That?s really what parables were all about. Jesus told parables ? mostly fictional tales ? to get a sometimes complex spiritual truth across in a simple way that the majority could understand.

I think one of my favorite movies is The Dark Knight. The villain in the movie, the Joker, is clearly in opposition to Bruce Wayne, who wants to help make Gotham city a better place. Bruce has seen the seedy side of Gotham, especially with the murder of his parents. And even though Bruce is filthy rich, he realizes that money holds nothing to purpose, and so he finds his purpose in Batman, an icon meant to give the city hope. The Joker on the other hand has nothing to lose, and this makes him a great villain because he is willing to do anything ? even self-destruct ? to get his plans and purpose across. The Joker understands humanities dark side and even tries to turn humanity on itself by setting up for a prison transport and a passenger ferry to destroy each other. But humanity succeeds and, for the moment, evil takes a hit. The Dark Knight portrays the ultimate battle between good and evil, of a just man and an unjust villain, humanity versus humanity. There is no seemingly sure way of stopping the Joker without killing him. But Batman understands that killing isn?t always the answer. He knows if he kills the Joker, that he himself will become that which he battles. Evil.

Anyone can pull any number of spiritual references from the movie, but I think Christians can gain a lot of insight by learning to breathe every once in a while and take in fine storytelling such as this. I also understand that some may be sensitive to certain themes of violence, and the maniacal and truly insane persona of the Joker can be disturbing to many, but those situations aren?t what I?m addressing here. I?m addressing those who sneer at movies like this or at the Christians/non-Christians who choose to watch them.

I think we as Christians should learn not to be such prudes when it comes to some of this stuff. I know I?ll probably get some negative comments about my heretical theories, but I don?t really care. I?ve felt this way for a? while now and I think it?s time I spoke up. I?m not by any means suggesting we go out and live a sinful life through a constant stream of lewd or crude entertainment. But I think great stories, great characters, great moral conflicts, can be found in some great avenues of media that some of us have been avoiding like a communicable disease.

Keep tabs on this blog on Wednesday when I talk specifically about the bad rap (some not surprising) that some Christian fiction has and my own way of emerging from it.

French coach Vince Collet reflects on loss to Team USA

(Editor?s note: Fansided is currently experiencing issues with their photo?s so bear with me. Once the problem is resolved, you will be treated to quality photos from US Presswire again.)

In light of their demoralizing 27-point loss to Team USA, French head coach Vince Collet reflected on the game. He added that they lost control, as their 18 turnovers suggests, struggled to control the glass (the United States held a 56-40 advantage) and they missed a lot of open shots. Everything he said was, well, exactly true.

?????The United States could make the game they wanted to do,? Collet said. ?They put the pressure from the ????beginning to the end of the match ? I found a game that was well structured. But then we lost control.

????Under pressure, we tried too often to find individual solutions in emerging systems, too early in ????possessions. It ? allowed Americans to make interceptions and you know it makes them unstoppable. ????Nobody plays the ball well and has such an ability to accelerate the game.?

Collet was disappointed in his perimeter shooting, France converted on 2-of-22 3-point attempts, but he also gave credit to the Americans ability to close out to shooters.

?????It was very important for us to limit the stray bullets and control the rebounds,? Collet said. ?We did not ????succeed. We also missed too many open shots. Some of the shots we missed were because the defense ????of Team USA ?

????Sometimes they will even help in the circle and they still come back as soon as the ball (arrives) on the ????shooters. It?s very impressive. But I think today we also missed at least 10 three-point shots that were really ????open and were good choices. If they had been returned, it would have helped us to stay in the game, but it ????did not happen.?

Maybe next time. Maybe next time.

Vinokourov stuns Britons in road race

Alexandre Vinokourov of Kazakhstan claimed an unexpected but deserved win in the men's Olympic road race Saturday, wrecking Mark Cavendish's hopes of delivering a first gold of the Games for the hosts.

Colombia's Rigoberto Uran won the silver with Norway's Alexander Kristoff taking the bronze after 249.5 km of racing which finished in the shadow of Buckingham Palace on The Mall.

Race favourite Cavendish finished well off the podium as Britain's highly fancied team were undone by a combination of tactical racing and some incisive, late attacks.

Vinokourov, 38, who immediately announced his retirement, wrote the last chapter of a turbulent career. He only returned to cycling in 2009 after serving a two-year ban for his part in a drug scandal at the 2007 Tour de France.

But the blond-haired racer, who is also known for his tactical nous and aggressive style, said his shady past was now behind him.

"I closed that chapter of my life in 2007 and I've proved today that I didn't come back for nothing. I've come here today and achieved a dream," said Vinokourov.

Despite the pre-Olympics hype of a British outfit labelled the "Dream Team", a disappointed Cavendish was philosophical in defeat.

"I can be proud of how the lads rode today. I'm proud of my country as there was incredible support. The guys are sat there, they are spent. They have got nothing left in the tank. It's incredible to see that," he said.

For Belgian Tom Boonen, who also missed out on a medal, Britain's strength was their downfall.

"They lost the race a little bit because they were so strong," Boonen told AFP.

With no race radios and teams of a maximum five riders, Britain were constantly tested throughout the race which took in nine laps of the hilly 15.4 km Box Hill circuit, to the south of London.

After an early 12-man breakaway went on to build a lead of six minutes and was eventually joined by 10 counter-attackers, Belgian Philippe Gilbert attacked solo only to be reeled in 42 km from the finish.

However his capture only served as the springboard for an attack which, with 32 riders and some big names including Swiss Fabian Cancellara and Spain's Luis Leon Sanchez, was far more dangerous for Britain.

Vinokourov was also in the group, but despite his past pedigree most of the peloton did not pay him enough attention.

Canadian Ryder Hesjedal, the recent Giro d'Italia winner, later told AFP: "Usually when Vino goes, I make sure to go with him. I wish I had that time."

They eventually built a lead of around 50 seconds on the peloton and despite Cancellara crashing, it proved enough to end many teams' hopes of a bunch sprint battle for the gold.

With around 10 km to race, Uran rocketed out of the leading group, a move Vinokourov believed decisive.

Surprisingly, they were left unchallenged and in the final 300 metres Vinokourov took advantage of Uran looking behind him for their pursuers to launch a winning sprint.

Later, the Colombian played down suggestions he had given up the fight.

"No, I didn't lose my concentration. We'd done the last 10km at full speed," said Uran. "I looked to my right and suddenly Alexandre took off. I didn't have anything left for a sprint.

"It's a very important medal for me. We didn't think we had any chance of winning a medal today because there were a lot of big teams with five riders."

Kristoff said he "didn't expect to get a medal" but now that he has he can step out of the shadow of more famous Norwegians like Thor Hushovd and Edvald Boasson Hagen.

"For my career it's important as I'm not as well known as Thor and Edvald. Of course I've (now) got a bronze medal at the Olympics and everyone watches the medallists."

Did Justin Adams Murder his Pregnant Wife? | Gather

Did Justin Adams murder his wife and unborn child? It's been the general opinion of police since before February when he was arrested and charged for it. However, it seems that police are displaying a change of mind. A judge set his bail in the amount of $100,000.00 earlier this week, and the accused murderer is now home free. He posted his bail and is home with his family, but under the stipulation that he must wear a police GPS monitor anklet. So what will police be doing while he's in the safety of his home? His lawyer claims they will most likely be searching for other persons of interest. That's interesting.

Perhaps police are paying attention to the claims of his mother, who insists that he didn't have the time to carry out a crime against his wife. He reported Jaymie Adams missing after she had gone to meet a client who was going to pay her for sex. She never returned. In the beginning he held the information about her prostitution away from police, but later admitted it. This made him suspicious in the eyes of law enforcement, which only inflamed the situation. It's the belief of his mother and others in support of him that the client she was going to meet is the one who killed her. Jaymie Adams was found with multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma to the head.

Justin Adams might not be guilty. In fact, the timing surrounding the night his wife was last seen doesn't mesh with the geography of the area where they resided. To be quite honest, it's unlikely that he murdered his wife and unborn child, while it's not impossible. If he did, he had help. If not, someone else is loose out there who murdered a pregnant woman who was selling her body to make ends meet for her family.

Half of Americans Do Not Know the President's Religion

Three and a half years into President Obama's first term as president, half of Americans cannot accurately say what religion he is, according to a poll released this week.

Only 49 percent of respondents said that Obama was Christian while 17 percent inaccurately said he was Muslim. Nearly one-third of respondents said they did not know the president's religion, according to the poll released Thursday by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life.

More people - 60 percent - knew that Romney, who has not held elected office in a decade, was Mormon than knew which religion the sitting president subscribes to.

And while only 9 percent of respondents said Romney was a religion that he is not, more than twice that amount said Obama adheres to a religion other than Christianity. The vast majority of those claiming Obama is not a Christian said he was a Muslim.

Nearly one in three Republicans said Obama was Muslim, twice as many as in 2008, the Pew study shows.

"Unfortunately there has been a development of a bizarre echo chamber within right wing of the political spectrum that truth and reality have failed to penetrate," said Ibrahim Hooper, communications director at Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington-based Muslim civil rights and advocacy group. "It's a self-perpetuating, self-reinforcing delusion."

But this seemingly large lack of basic knowledge about the president may have more to do with people's opinion of Obama than how much they know about religious beliefs, said Alan Cooperman, associate director for research at the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

"It's entirely possible that what people are telling us isn't exactly what they know but they are expressing an opinion," Cooperman said. "We suspect - it's hard to prove it- that some of the people who tell us that the president is a Muslim are using the question as a way to express their distrust or dislike for the president."

Only 8 percent of Democrats said Obama was Muslim. Because there is such a wide divide between the parties' responses, Cooperman said the results do not "just show whether people are ignorant on the president's religion but more that they have an opinion on his religion."

The percentage of people who said Obama was Muslim has stayed fairly steady since August 2010, when firestorm erupted over plans to build an Islamic community center two blocks from Ground Zero in New York City.

Hooper said that while the tension between Muslims and Christians has not been as public since the " Ground Zero Mosque " controversy, he has seen "a steady erosion of tolerance and mutual understanding based on this relentless campaign of Islamophobia" since Obama was elected.

"It is visceral hatred for President Obama and to justify it they have to come up with these reasons: he is the other, he's Muslim, he's foreign born."

But as of now, a candidate's religion will not likely be the driving factor for whether people pick Obama or Romney in November.

Even though 65 percent of those who think Obama is Muslim said they were uncomfortable with his religion, most of them also said they already planned to vote for Romney. And among voters who knew Romney was Mormon, 80 percent either said his faith did not make them uncomfortable or that it did not matter.

"I'm not going to say it doesn't matter at all," Cooperman said, but it "doesn't seem to have a lot of impact on their voting preference."

Charlie Sheen sitcom poised for 90-episode pickup

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) ? Charlie Sheen says he's not insane anymore.

Instead, these are good days for the "Anger Management" star, he declares, with his FX sitcom half-way through its initial 10-episode run and poised to get an order for 90 more.

Sheen told reporters Saturday that the prospect of continuing is as "exciting as hell," and added cheerily, "I don't think 90's gonna be enough."

With the expected pickup, FX plans to bring aboard Sheen's dad, Martin Sheen, as a regular cast member. He will play the father of Charlie Goodson, the anger-management therapist played by Charlie Sheen. The veteran movie actor, who also played President Jed Bartlet on the drama series "The West Wing," is guest-starring on an "Anger Management" episode that airs Aug. 16.

"I think that was the best episode we did," his son said.

Adding Sheen pere to the series "will give an extra dimension and make it a multi-generational family show," said FX boss John Landgraf in making the announcement.

The production schedule would call for filming a total of 100 episodes in just two years. This kind of cost-saving routine means no time for rehearsals, said executive producer Bruce Helford.

"The actors get the lines, we see the scene, the writers make changes, the actors go to makeup, cameras are blocked, we come back together and shoot the scene," he explained.

At first, the cast members "felt like basically they were on the ledge. But by the third episode, everyone found the characters to the point that the writers were following their lead," Helford said.

"I feel like how we started, we just scratched the surface ? barely," said Sheen, who arrived for his appearance at the Television Critics Association session clad in Bermuda shorts, a long-sleeve shirt and loafers without socks.

He likened his tumultuous departure from "Two and a Half Men" and the stormy aftermath last year to a dream he couldn't wake up from. Or like "a train I couldn't get off of, except that I was the conductor," he added, speaking in quick bursts and fidgeting in his chair.

He said he learned a lot from that period, including "stick to what you know." Referring to his disastrous "My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option" tour in spring 2011, he got laughs from the group when he advised, "Don't go on the road with a one-man show in 21 cities without an act. "

"I'm not insane anymore," he summed up.

What's different now from Sheen's angry stretch on "Men," characterized by his much-publicized clashes with series creator Chuck Lorre?

Helford weighed in with a theory. On "Men," he ventured, "Charlie didn't really have a voice with creative input. It wasn't built that way."

On "Anger Management," Helford said he's forged a partnership with his star.

"We built this together," he said. "And when Charlie's on the stage, that's his stage. When you feel that, your creative juices are flowing, everything is better for you, because you have a say in what you're doing.

"When you don't control your destiny, things get screwed up in your head," he said as Sheen nodded.

On "Anger Management," Charlie Goodson thrives on chaos. Sheen was asked if he does, too, or if he longs for a simpler life.

"I can wish every minute for a simple life. It's not gonna happen," Sheen replied. "But I don't really look at it as chaos. I look at it as challenges."

Boink Box Launches A ?Birchbox For Adult Toys,? Looks To Liven Up Your Sex Life For $45 A Month

boink boxI'm not going to lie, I hate going into sex shops like Good Vibrations as much as the next geeky dude who still can't get over the fact that we're all adults and sex is something that pretty much everyone does -- or attempts to do. They usually have pretty knowledgeable, friendly staff, which is awesome but can also be a little creepy when you're asking for suggestions on a cock ring. (Uh, hypothetically.) And you know, there's always sort of this feeling that you're being watched by the other store patrons, which is probably true, because you're also checking out whatever vibrator they're checking out. It's just a weird experience. What if you didn't have to go through that every time you wanted to try something new? What if sex toys just showed up at your door once a month for a fairly nominal fee? That's what Boink Box is for. It's bringing subscription commerce to the world of adult toys, promising its subscribers monthly packages of a variety of toys.

Harvard researchers find link between climate change, ozone loss and possible increase in skin cancer incidence

For decades, scientists have known that the effects of global climate change could have a potentially devastating impact across the globe, but Harvard researchers say there is now evidence that it may also have a dramatic impact on public health.

As reported in a paper published in the July 27 issue of Science, a team of researchers led by James G. Anderson, the Philip S. Weld Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry, are warning that a newly-discovered connection between climate change and depletion of the ozone layer over the U.S. could allow more damaging ultraviolet (UV) radiation to reach the Earth's surface, leading to increased incidence of skin cancer.

In the system described by Anderson and his team, water vapor injected into the stratosphere by powerful thunderstorms converts stable forms of chlorine and bromine into free radicals capable of transforming ozone molecules into oxygen. Recent studies have suggested that the number and intensity of such storms are linked to climate changes, Anderson said, which could in turn lead to increased ozone loss and greater levels of harmful UV radiation reaching the Earth's surface, and potentially higher rates of skin cancer.

"If you were to ask me where this fits into the spectrum of things I worry about, right now it's at the top of the list," Anderson said. "What this research does is connect, for the first time, climate change with ozone depletion, and ozone loss is directly tied to increases in skin cancer incidence, because more ultraviolet radiation is penetrating the atmosphere."

Unfortunately, Anderson said, we don't know how this process will evolve over time.

"We don't know what the development of this has been we don't have measurements of this deep convective injection of water into the stratosphere that go back in time," Anderson said.

"But the best guide for the evolution of this is to look at the research that connects climate change with severe storm intensity and frequency, and it's clear that there is a developing scientific case that the addition of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere is increasing climate change, and in turn driving severe storm intensity and frequency."

While it's impossible to know how many skin cancer cases may be related to ozone depletion over the U.S., the link between ozone loss and increased incidence of the disease has been extensively studied, Anderson said.

"There has been a major effort by the medical community to define the relationship between decreases in ozone and the subsequent increases in skin cancer," he said. "The answer is quite clear if you multiply the fractional decrease in ozone protection by about three, you get the increase in skin cancer incidence. There are 1 million new skin cancer cases in the U.S. annually it's the most common form of cancer, and it's one that's increasing in spite of all the medical research devoted to it."

But it isn't only humans who have to worry about the effects of increased UV radiation.

Many crops, particularly staple crops grown for human consumption such as wheat, soybeans and corn could suffer damage to their DNA, Anderson said.

Ironically, Anderson said, the discovery that climate change might be driving ozone loss happened virtually by accident.

Though they had worked since the mid-1980s to investigate ozone depletion in the Arctic and Antarctic, by the early-2000s, Anderson's team had turned their attention to climate studies. In particular, they were working to understand how the convective clouds updrafts that cause storms to build high into the sky contribute to the creation of cirrus clouds.

"It was in the process of looking at that mechanism that we came to this unexpected observation that the convective clouds in these storm systems over the U.S. are reaching far deeper into the stratosphere that we ever expected," Anderson said.

While earlier tests performed in the Arctic had demonstrated that water vapor was a key component in creating the "free-radical" compounds that break down ozone, Anderson said the latest finding is much more troubling, because it suggests the process can happen at much higher temperatures than initially suspected.

"The bottom line is that if you increase the water vapor concentration, you actually increase the threshold temperature for executing this chemical conversion from the stable forms of chlorine to the free radical form," Anderson said. "If the amount of water vapor and the temperature over the U.S. satisfies the conditions for rapid conversion of inorganic chlorine to this free-radical form, we've got a real problem, because the chemistry is identical to what we previously demonstrated is taking place over the Arctic."

Also surprising, he added, was the realization that, to throw water vapor high into the atmosphere, storms needn't be unusually large.

"We have hundreds of measurements world-wide addressing the photochemical structure controlling ozone, but only a limited number of flights over the U.S. in summer," he said. "The flights were studying average storms over the middle-west, and of the 20 observations we made over the U.S., about half demonstrated significant penetration into the stratosphere," he said.

The next step in the research, Anderson said, is to conduct a series of tests to confirm whether the free-radical form of chlorine and bromine are present in the stratosphere at significantly elevated levels in the presence of convectively-injected water vapor.

"In my mind, this is not just a broad public health issue," Anderson said. "This is about actually being able to step out into the sunlight it's about your children and your children's health. Of course, we don't know how rapidly the frequency and intensity of these storms will increase, so we can't place a time scale on this problem, but the core issue here is quite straightforward and simple, because we understand this chemistry."

(AP) ? Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has caused a stir in Britain by questioning whether the country is prepared to pull off the Olympic Games without a hitch.

The former Massachusetts governor is visiting British political Thursday while trying to show he has what it takes to represent America on the world stage.

But instead of highlighting ties with America's staunchest ally, Romney may have embarrassed the Brits instead.

Romney said in an interview that it's unclear whether Britain can overcome the issues that have dogged its final preparations for the Games.

Leaving a meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Romney said he expects the Games will be successful.

Cameron said Romney and others will "see beyond doubt that Britain can deliver."
