An Outrageously Good Night Out At Decades ? Tenerife Holidays Blog

You don?t have to dig very deep to find comedy gold at Vivo Treasure Island in Playa de Las Americas. There?s musical mayhem and shocks in frocks as Bitter & Twisted go on a musical rampage through some of the great female singers? big numbers. I dived in at the deep end with the Friday night adults only show and myself and guest enjoyed generous portions of sauce poured into spicy costumes and served with relish ? and that was after the three course meal.

It?s a slick operation, from the entrance lobby with its nostalgic mix of 60?s and 70?s TV and music clips to the lounge terrace to enjoy a pre-show drink. I remember the show hall as a large open bar but now it is cosy and welcoming with split level seating to ensure everyone gets a clear view of the stage.

We were soon enjoying our leek and potato soup starter, although we could have gone for the chef?s special salad. Beef Stroganoff with rice followed, they do a pre-ordered veggie option as well. We chose differently with the dessert, profiteroles with chocolate sauce, and chocolate and vanilla ice cream slice. Food and service were both good. Everyone had pre-ordered their first drink and after that, the waiting staff whizzed in and out to keep the drinks (all in the overall price) flowing.

The whirlwind that is Bitter & Twisted burst onto the stage in the first of an ever changing fashion onslaught, it was enough to make Lady Gaga feel dowdy. Barry Pugh and John Sharples teased, tempted, and even squirted their way through their act, Amy Winehouse, Eartha Kitt, and the Rocky Horror Show all arrived with a few cheeky surprises. Decades has a good sized stage but not enough to hold the exuberance of the stars, they took audience involvement to another level.

The show lasted 90 minutes with a short break. There are family friendly shows as well. On Saturdays Bitter & Twisted are joined by the Decades dancers for a Hollywood tour, and on Mondays and Thursdays it?s a musical tour from the 50?s to the 90?s with different menus. After the main show the music continued on the larger outside terrace with Mark Craig, a relaxing way to round off a frantic evening of fun and laughter.

Tickets for Vivo Decades include champagne reception, three course meal, wine, beer, soft drinks and cabaret:
Siver ?35 (residents ?25); Gold (superior wine and local spirits) ?45 (residents ?35); children (5-14 years) ?18
