Dr. Hitesh K Patel Edison Warning On An Immediate Treatment For ...

Squint is a popular defect of the visual axis parallelism. A more or less obvious deviation of at least one axis can determine a serious visual disorder that will cause a series of problems later. Unfortunately, this problem is extremely popular and usually affects children. A prompt observation and an immediate diagnostic are two of the most significant factors in the healing process.

There are two different types of squint.

?? Convergent ? Implies the eye deviation towards the nose and is usually caused by a refraction difference between the two eyes. Each eye perceives images in a different way.

?? Divergent ? Implies the marginal deviation and is less common. This problem tends to affect older kids or adults. It leads to a severe myopia or an early vision loss.

Dr. Hitesh K Patel Edison agrees that ignoring this problem will clearly aggravate it. The brain obviously receives two different images. With time, the good one will replace the bad one, so the problematic eye will soon lose its visual capacity. The lack of training will no longer transmit signals to the brain, leading to a partial vision loss. If the squint is not too severe, the differences between such images are quite small, so the brain will try to make a connection between them. The abnormal result is harder to diagnose.

Fortunately, there are plenty of treatments to solve this opthalmologic condition. However, the more advanced it is, the harder it becomes to treat it without an invasive procedure. Ideally, the disease should step in before the patient is six months old. Even if it shows up later, it is mandatory to begin the treatment before six years old. If ignored by that age, it is almost impossible to cure.

Without a surgical intervention, wearing glasses round the clock is vital. The functional eye will be covered for long periods of time, only to force the problematic one to develop the visual function. In nine out of ten cases, an early treatment is successful. In the other cases, the doctor may have to force both eyes to work together.

According to Dr. Hitesh K Patel Edison, a surgery operation is the last resort. It is very sophisticated and asks for a perfect precision, but the doctor is already familiar with such things. The intervention implies moving particular muscles of the eyes, but not without a general anesthesia. The patient must stay in hospital for a few more days, while the glasses represent a must in the future.
